WEAT has partnered with several utilities across Texas to offer on-the-job training through a Department of Labor certified Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices in Plant Operations, Collections Systems Operations, Electrical & Instrumentation, or Mechanic Tech receive their training and licenses while working, and graduate to a full-time position with their employer. If you are interested in a career in water but don't know where to start, reach out to us about a potential apprenticeship with one of our employer partners. There is no maximum age to become an operator, and a High School Diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.
