Nutrient Treatment? My Permit Doesn’t Require Nutrient Treatment!
(why plants should consider nutrient treatment anyway)
Hear from Paul Wood, P.E., Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc., on the adverse impacts nutrient discharges can have on streams. For several reasons, most Texas discharge permits do not have especially stringent nutrient regulations when compared to some other states. There are, however, economic and operational reasons why owners and operators of Water Resource Recovery Facilities (wastewater plants) should consider implementing nutrient removal strategies. Energy savings and operational improvements should not be ignored.
