Position Overview:
SJRA is seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Senior Maintenance Technician for our Woodlands Division. This role is vital in maintaining and enhancing our water and wastewater services for The Woodlands, TX- a community of approximately 120,000 residents and numerous local businesses and hospitals. The division operates and maintains 3 wastewater treatment plants, 30 sewage lift stations, 5 water plants, 6 elevated storage tanks, 38 groundwater wells, and around 40 backup generators.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair: Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on system equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, engines, and generators. Perform complex troubleshooting on electrical controls/components (24 volts DC to 480 volts AC) and mechanical equipment.
Installation and Upgrades: Assist with the installation of new or rebuilt equipment, including pumps, motors, piping systems, and controls
Record Review and Recommendations: Review maintenance records and recommend modifications or equipment replacements to ensure effective utilization of the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
System Utilization: Ensure effective use of the EAM program, including work order systems, inventory control, and maintenance procedures.
Staff Training and Development: Train, mentor and develop staff to perform tasks safely and effectively, achieving departmental and organizational goals.
Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation (24/7, including weekends) and respond to severe weather events (e.g., hurricanes, floods, snowstorms).
Construction and Inspection: Review and comment on construction plans, inspect facilities, and resolve warranty issues related to existing, new, and rehabilitated equipment.
Work Schedule:
Normal hours: 6:30am – 4:30pm, with a 4/10 schedule (one day off per week)
On-Call Duty: One week per month, including weekends, with potential for emergency response during severe weather events (once training is complete)

$27.00 - $33.00 hr

Position Minimum Experience
Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance repair or water/wastewater systems.
Experience with electrical installation and troubleshooting, mechanical installation and troubleshooting, and/or welding and fabrication.
Texas Journeyman Electrician License preferred.
Valid Texas Driver’s License with an insurable driving record is required.
