Position Title

SCADA Specialist- Programming

Position Description

The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking to fill the position of SCADA Specialist –Programming located in Conroe, Texas. The SCADA Specialist – Programming applies technical expertise to the different programming software associated with the SCADA systems for various Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities. This includes the SCADA software (Wonderware), programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, operation interface terminal (OIT) programming, communication gateways, etc. This role requires an understanding of how the different programs interact and communicate with each other. This role also requires an understanding of how the various processes employed around the SJRA work and are controlled and how they interact with each other. This role uses technical and programming know how to perform analysis, modification, documentation and support of daily operations.

Plans, designs, installs, configures, programs, maintains, and modifies SCADA software including SCADA system databases, alarming strategies, SCADA screens (HMI), trending, and report generation.

Programs, modifies, and maintains the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated systems including Operator Interface Terminals (OITs), communications gateways, and any other equipment necessary for the PLC network.

Assists in the troubleshooting of processes within the Water and Wastewater systems of the SJRA.

Utilizes various tools and software to tune control loops and optimize the operation of the River Authority’s facility and to program and configure control systems logic and user interfaces and tune control loops on systems such as PLCs.

Assists in the analysis, troubleshooting, and maintaining of the data communications systems associated with the SCADA/I&C systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Salary

$35.92 - $40.00 HR

Position Minimum Experience

A four-year computer science or related science or technology degree is preferred with at least two years of experience in the electronics, PLC, wireless (radio), networking, and/or SCADA technology fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with Allen-Bradley SLC and ControlLogix PLCs, IEC-1131-3 programming, RSLogix 500/5000 software is a plus and SCADA/real-time process control systems is a must.

Ability and skill in reading schematics and process and instrumentation diagrams.

Ability and skills in diagnosing and repairing equipment and software problems.
